Dave Shea talks about 7 randomly-selected things that made him happy in 2005, which According to him everyone else is doing
. Well, hes the only one Ive seen doing this, but it seems like a fun idea, so here are mine.
Teh server
Mid-2004, we got ourselves this awesome server deal, and it kept rocking on through 2005. Around Christmas, we actually switched to a new faster, and more powerful box, and Im in love with it already. Were currently thinking of a name for the box.
Le Book
I finally got myself a laptop this year. A PowerBook G4 15?, to be exact. I got it at ljs, where I was helped by my friend Casper Schipper.
I pod
My dad got me 20GB iPod [Photo] for my 25th birthday. It started out as a fancy mp3 player and a little mirror, but has evolved into an external hard drive that has been a saving angel in many stressful moments for both myself as a couple of classmates.
DrawBot stopped working when I upgraded to Tiger
(Mac os X). This was bad timing as I was just about to do some design by code
experiments for my final project at the kabk. Then I remembered its spin-off, which to my pleasant surprise appears to have built-in export to Quicktime
functionality.
I quit smoking in 2003, but decided to get started again since my final year at the kabk has started. I expect to work all day and drink all night a lot this year, and I remember cigarretes to be a nice companion in such times.
Formally, I used to smoke whatever brand I knew; was available; or was being used by people around me. This time, I have concluded that theres one that I actually like better than all the others, taste wise. This happens to be the same brand my father uses, which considering our shared tastes in drinks, music, after-shave, and so on isnt entirely surprising.
In 2004, I first got into therapy at what was then called Parnassia. They have been a great help from the start, although it was very much about trying to find out what the causes of my strugglings were. Throughout 2005 when it was becoming clear what the causes were I was confronted with a more and more hands-on approach, helping me to deal with things in life, including the ones I found the most hard to deal with: anxiety and depression.
Months progressed, and so did I. Thank you, PsyQ
