Papa Got A Brand New Pass

The day before yesterday, Enrique told me they had something at USA Sportstore that he knew I'd love: an NBA Hardwood Classics throw-back Los Angeles home jersey of Earvin Magic Johnson. He also mentioned that they only had four—so I had to be quick.

I said that I wanted to get it right away, but that I couldn't since I didn't have a pin pass, and that I'd ask my mom if I could borrow some money when I'd see her later. We went outside to play some 'ball at our homecourt. We did have some fun, but it was too hot to play serious. After a couple of hours, we went home to fresh up and have dinner. This in order to be ready for Centraal, where we'd meet up with a lot of guys again.

When I got home, my mom was already there. I asked her whether I could borrow some money, but she had better news in store: my new pin pass had arrived by mail (something I didn't expect). I packed my bag and headed into town.

At the store, I immediately looked for the jersey, and found it. I tried on a large (though I already knew it was gonna' be a perfect fit), and said this was going to go with me nomatter what, but that I'd look for some new shoes first. (The And 1's I've been wearing have a hole in it.) I was pleased to see they had a couple of new shoes, and I was very pleased to see a pair of black leather All Star® 2K4's. I liked them a lot and I knew right away they'd fit nicely with my new jersey. At last minute, I decided to take home a pair of yellow gold Champion shorts too, so that I'd have a complete outit. The shorts appeared to be double-sided (the other side is black), which was a welcome surprise. I payed with my new pass, and headed to Centraal.

At the playground I showed (off) my new stuff, after which a bunch of guys all made the same joke, pretending to steel it. (I would probably have done the same … either that or really steal it.) I didn't feel like changing, so I played in my old outfit (which is still perfectly fine). We played ball for several hours—not too serious, but fun nonetheless. There were a lot of dunks, which nearly killed one of the baskets. As usual, Enrique and I hung around the longest—when we went home it was way past midnight.

Right before we went home, I had contact with Dan-Vi and Roos by phone. We agreed to meet up the next day, to sign in for the next year at the Royal Academy, and to have some drinks in town.

The next day (yesterday), I got up a bit earlier than usual, and lifted myself into my fancy new outfit. The weather was great, so I could afford to head out, wearing just that. I met up with Roos and Jurriaan at the Academy, but not before I had chatted with several people I ran into. We handed over our sign-in forms, and headed to café Boterwaag, where we sat down for drinks and tapenade.

After several hours (and several drinks, and sunburning my skin), Dan-Vi joined us. We had one more drink, after which Roos left and the three of us went shopping. We didn't really go looking for anythingwe were just wandering around, completely layed back. I too, was completely relaxed. Around 6, we (sort of) agreed to meet up next Thursday, and we went home.

At home, I had dinner, played some NBA Inside Drive, and (like every day) headed to Centraal. There weren't as many people as the rest of this week (then again, we usually don't play there on Fridays), but there were still enough people to play 5-on-5. This day, we played even less serious than on the one bfore, but it was still fun. I had a lot of fun passing the ballI always do, but now especially; trying out new stuff, and wearing a suiting outfit. There were also a lot of dunks again (albeit not nearly as many as yesterday). The basket seriously needs to be replaced now, as it is heavely leaning forward, and looks and sounds like is going to fall over soon.

We'll see if it survives tomorrow (yes, we do play every day).
