Rest In Peace, Mr. Charles

Ray Charles, who overcame poverty, blindness and heroin addiction to lay the foundation for soul music and become one of America's most beloved entertainers, died on Thursday at the age of 73 after a long fight with liver disease, his spokesman said.

I was listening to a duet of him with Tony Bennett just this afternoon. R.I.P.

I was sad to hear this news earlier - my mom always had a Christmas CD of his playing during the holidays when I was growing up.
