Willem Oltmans (Dutch journalist and writer) past away yesterday at age 79. He had been seriously ill for some time, and arranged his own death by euthanasia. He also set up a condolances register … on top of things to the very end.
While his life was lost, another one was welcomed. Congrats, Jeffrey and Carrie! (I wonder when Ava Marie Zeldman will start her weblog.)

It's sad, but he did get to the 79, something many people with cancer don't even reach.
