The Day Before Reality

I got up feeling pretty sick today (or yesterday, technically... I say that a lot, don't I?), but I tried to keep a positive mindset. I had breakfast, and got ready to take care of a list of things.

First thing I had/wanted to do was to go voting for the European Parlament. I stuck to my original plan and voted for the Socialist Party, which came out as the big winner later—they went from 1 to 2 zetels, averaging the highest percentage ever, and being the first party in Netherlands' history to win ten consecutive national votings.

After that, I posted a check to FatSatan for my share of this month's server payment. After that, I went on my way to drop off some social security paper for my mom. On my way there, I ran into Frank (who cut my hair last Tuesday). He said I looked cool (I was was in a black pinstripe twopeace, black shirt, and hard pink tie), and asked what I was going to do. I told him I was going to get the book we discussed a few days before; we both smiled and went our ways.

After I posted my mom's thingy I went to pick up the book at Verwijs *) (no, that is not a typo). While the guy at the counter was doing something with the cash register, my eyes wondered off to some discounted art books behind him, while I was holding the cash in my hand. When I looked at him again, he made some whitty remark about there being a need for a financial transaction because only showing it wasn't going to work. I replied that someday it will. He glanced at me. I said digital age and all... No response. Ok, bye. Idiot.

Now I had one more task to fulfill, which was the biggest of them all; I had to go pick up the black leather manager's chair at V&D. We ordered the thing two months ago, and they've been complete fuck-ups about it, but yesterday I finally got a call that I could come and pick it up.

When I arrived at V&D, I still felt like shit— in fact; I was feeling worse—but, there's no backing out on things, so I went on my quest to find the chair. I could have sworn I spotted my ex' sister working there, but I'm completely sure. In any event, I didn't feel like finding out (nothing personalI'd loved to chat with her when I feel good/normal).

Anyway. I asked a total of three people and had been to the top floor and the basement before I finally spotted the chair. I asked a lady that was standing pretty much next to it whether I could pick up my chair, but she said it wasn't in stock. Right... Luckaly another lady was overhearing this, and jumped to correct her. The three of us were going to get a fresh new chair from the magazine. I was pleased to see the thing was in a box and wasn't too big (I didn't feel like dragging a complete chair all the way home).

The lady that said the thing wasn't in stock in the first place now looked in some book in which they had written down the names of all the people that had ordered this particular article. I said it had been ordered either under the name Dekker, or the (more likely) name Walison. She said there was no Dekker and that Walison had already come to pick it up. Not only is this not true, it also makes no sense. I decided not to say anything back. They made no more fuss about it (which is good), I payed for the darn thing, and got on my way.

Now, the fact that it was in a box and it wasn't very big an all was nice, but... that didn't say much about the weight. While I was dragging the boxed chair and myself around in the insane heath, I came to regret I had put on a suit (even though I got some nice comments from guys andmore importantlylooks from girls)... and a black one, of all colors.

When I finally got home, I was sweating like a pig, yet decided to put on some nice music and put together my chair. After that, I had some fish, created a thingy for Chris, played some basketball with Mikey (even though the weather sucked), had some pizza, and became NBA Champions with my favorite team in a computer game.

That pretty much sums up my day. My dad will pick me up around 18:30 and we'll head straight to Amsterdam to witness a Bowie concert. I'm both looking forward as up to it, and both in a fairly strong way... but, like Nike says; Just Do It!

I expect to see a picture of your Zorro-esque mug covered in face paint and screaming on the news page of Bowie's website after that show, Acj. Don't let me down. And enjoy the show- you're in for a treat.

I've been writing a weblog entry about all of it for two days now, and I'm not quite done yet. There will be picture, but not Zorro-esque (I got a haircut and I'eh... shaved). All in good time.
