Up to this day, weblog entries were being archived both monthly as individually. The monthly pages provide only the titles of the entries, linking to the individual archives. The individual archives show a entry in its entire, plus all its comments and trackbacks, and a comment form (if allowed for that specific entry).
This works perfectly fine, but it didn't cover all my needs. There were three problems in particular:
correctas it would be to link to a daily page—an individual entry seems too specific.

upfrom an individual archive page. There was (and still is—I'll be working on that) no active navigation for it, and brute forcing it by taking off the last part of the URL caused a
403.
Today I decided there was really no reason to not have daily archives, and thus I got into the templates and configuration settings of my CMS. I was literally done within a minute. I just took the template of the weblog index; stripped some things I didn't need; added an archive type to the configuration; and that was about it. I rebuild the site and here we are. (Gotta love Movable Type.)
I'm planning on making some changes, though. I want to add an (automated) 'blogroll again, change the titles of the pages (they're all called ACJ's Weblog
now), and perhaps add the bookmarks I made that day (I've been loging these locally—adding them to my weblog always seemed like a nice idea to me).
Google, you've got some pages to index!
ACJ4 comments so far.
Gotta love MT
sigh I'm missing it right now. If I can't get things to work again - I'm going back.

Hehe, I'm actually considering changing to WordPress myself. I already have a copy up and running, but I won't do anything with it before I—like you said—get everything to work.

When (if?) I ever get serious about my weblog again, I think I'm going to give Textpattern a go.

I loved Wordpress until I upgraded the version and ended up stuck in a pre-alpha version. (I shouldn't be allowed to update my site at 4am.. only bad things can happen! :) ) I'm stuck because no one knows what "might happen" if I go back to the previous one. So things aren't exactly stable enough for me to do much right now.
I never installed textpattern - but a friend did.. and let me check it out. I liked the way it looked. I didn't get to spend much time on it though.
