ACJ’s Stressed Out, Bright Notes

I don't remember exactly how I got there, but I found myself reading Stress & Your Health: The Physical Warning Signs three days ago. Here's a caption from the site:

Chronic stress can wear down the body's natural defenses, leading to a variety of physical symptoms, including the following:

• Dizziness or a general feeling of "being out of it"
• General aches and pains
• Grinding teeth, clenched jaw
• Headaches
• Indigestion
• Increase in or loss of appetite
• Muscle tension in neck, face or shoulders
• Problems sleeping
• Racing heart
• Cold and sweaty palms
• Tiredness, exhaustion
• Trembling/shaking
• Weight gain or loss
• Upset stomach
• Sexual difficulties

Well, guess what? I've got all of those — save the last one (unless by Sexual difficulties they mean trouble finding a new girlfriend, because then yes, I've got that too — not that I've been doing things that would bring such opportunity lately).

Bah. It didn't surprise me one bit — I guess good ol' serotonin is to blame. I hope the psychiatrist I have an appointment with tomorrow can tell me more about that (and perhaps fix it?). Note to self: do not forget appointment with Dr. S. Sibie on March 23 at 13:30.

On a brighter note: I just installed Mozilla 1.7 Beta, which has been released four days ago (I'm being slow). As I read the release notes, I was very pleased to read it has support for the CSS3 opacity property. Maybe I'll play around with this feature in the new css Zen Garden designs I've been working on the past few days (which are all highly experimental and boundary-pushing).

Here are some more bright notes from as of late:

• I can scroll through my list of fonts with the arrow keys of my keyboard again in Adobe® Photoshop® CS! (very happy about this — selecting fonts one by one from a list of thousands is no fun)
• XML in PHP 5 - What's New? (a lot of good stuff, apparently)
• If you do a search on an empty string via Dictionary dot com, by accessing http://dictionary.reference.com/search, you get results on nothing. (not really valuable information, but I thought it was pretty witty)

PHP5's new simpleXML has me intrigued. I might use this for something somewhere down the road.

I think I'll write an auto convert line breaks option. Not everybody knows HTML, let alone X (not directed towards James, who happens to be a web design god).

Not really relevant, but I made the following additions to the allowed HTML tags:

• cite attribute for cite elements
• daytime attribute for del and ins elements
• alt, height, src, title and width attributes for for img elements

Anything left that I really should add?
