Weblog entries posted on this day.
Finally, I've got myself a proper domain for my personal home page. I've been breaking my head on this for a long time — comming up with a domain that I like and that was free for the take, might have been the hardest thing I ever did that concerns my home page. I think the close-to-endless pondering has payed off though. I'm very content with the domain I have acquired (with a little help of Juns and Garret). Wait, did I even mention what the new address is? Either way, it's acjs.net, so update you bookmarks if you care.
Here's some in-dept information on the domain, presented as a Q&A dialogue.
Why acjs.net?
Well, it wasn't my first choice (nor my second, third, fourth, and so on...), but I think it's perfect because it's pronounced (or so it should) as ACJ's
. My portfolio would be hosted on acjs.net/portfolio and would carry the title ACJ's Portfolio. The same works for ACJ's Photos, and so on.
What will happen with the other addresses, will they still be active?
I will keep fragile-minds.com/~acj and home.planet.nl/~acjbizar, but I will only use them for testing and hosting of random stuff that is not permanent site content. I will probably keep the main page and weblog archives up at my home.planet.nl address — mainly because cool URI's don't change
, and they generate most traffic (for now). I don't think you'll see a lot of updates on the old domains, if any. This is my new address, and I plan on keeping it.
What happend to all the content?
I'm re-writing pretty everything from scratch. The main sections (that I refer to as chapters): Photos, Weblog, etc. are functional, but empty. This is going to change soon, as I'm re-building everything as fast as I can (well, maybe not that, but still pretty fast). You can expect all the content that was featured on the previous domains in full effect, and more.
I don't understand this or that.
Well, I'm currently writing About, Accessibility, and FAQ pages, but for now you can contact me personally by posting a comment to this very post, or by dropping me an email at ego@acjs.net.
Enough introduction for now — I'm going to get back to working on my precious new site. More to come, soon.
This day, elsewhere.
